For and Against Reading
Let the Cards help you identify and think through the reasons for and against something. The Cards will represent relevant factors and the images and words that happen to appear will help you understand their impact on the situation. The final choice is up to you, but the last Card will offer some advice for making this decision.
As always, remember that the cards do not need to be interpreted literally, sometimes need to be interpreted creatively, and even loose connections they spark are significant because they came to mind.
Card 1 – IN FAVOR
This Card represents a factor in favor of the proposition. It may describe the factor itself, or the particular bearing it has on the situation. When there are already obvious factors in favor, this Card may be pointing to a less obvious factor, or some underappreciated aspect of a more obvious one.
Card 2 – AGAINST
This Card refers to a factor that is opposed to the proposition. It will be something that runs counter to Card 1, likely of a similar relevance or magnitude; if the two factors do not seem to match in this way, they may be more similar than they appear.
Card 3 – WASH
This Card refers to a factor that is a wash – it may contain some aspects that work in favor and some that work against, but in total doesn’t pull one way or the other to any significant degree. The Cards want you to recognize that this possibly complex or confusing factor actually doesn’t matter all that much, or that a part of the decision that seems important should actually be ignored.
Card 4 – KEEP
This Card is reminding you of a factor that is crucial to keep in mind as you make your final determination for or against. It may be a something that you have forgotten, is easy to overlook, or requires closer examination to correctly account for. Look for any patterns or themes among all four Cards for additional clarity on the reading’s final recommendation.
