Earth, Air, Fire, and Water

The Four Elements of earth, air, fire, and water are ancient concepts with many meanings and associations across spiritual, astrological, and esoteric traditions.

The Elements in Tarot and Astrology

In tarot, the Minor Arcana suits are directly connected to the elements:

Pentacles = Earth, Swords = Air, Wands = Fire, Cups = Water

Some of the Major Arcana are also linked with an element, such as the Fool and Air, or Judgement and Fire.

The elements are also distributed among the 12 Signs of the Zodiac, and play a significant role in Astrology overall. They contain many links to the numbers and birthstones as well.

If an element appears repeatedly in a spread, its energy is likely shaping or dominating the situation: Try a Situation Reading Here.
